A total of 200 students of Olat Maras Community Academy (AKOM) took part in a character development program held in the form of a camping activity at the UTS Creative Public Space (RPK UTS) on January 21–22, 2026.
The program was initiated by the Character and Organization Development Board (BPKO). On the first evening, participants attended a session on faith and moral development, with materials delivered directly by the Director of AKOM, Dr. Zulkieflimansyah, SE., M.Sc.
On the second day, the main activity was a hike to Bukit Olat Maras, a hill located beside the UTS campus and not far from the AKOM campus. The hike was joined by approximately 200 participants, consisting of students, AKOM staff, and invited guests.
The hike was escorted by members of MAPALA UTS. After an energy-draining climb, participants were rewarded with a breathtaking view at the summit of Bukit Olat Maras. “The exhaustion from the hike was completely worth it,” said Bang Zul while enjoying the scenery.
Meanwhile, AKOM CEO Fajar Rachmat stated in his remarks that AKOM students are expected not only to master technical skills according to their respective study programs, but also to possess strong character. “Good character supports the skills you have and becomes a key to future success,” he explained. He added that character building cannot be achieved in just a day or two, but through small positive habits practiced consistently every day.
BPKO AKOM Chairperson Totok Suhada explained that the activity involved the AKOM Student Executive Board (BEM) as the organizing committee. “The purpose of this camping program is to shape students who are religious, independent, and have strong moral values,” he said.
Throughout the two-day program, participants received various character-building materials, interspersed with fun and engaging games that made the camping activity even more enjoyable. Despite heavy rain in Sumbawa, the event ran smoothly thanks to the spacious facilities provided by the RPK venue.
