The 81st Independence Day celebration of the Republic of Indonesia in Sumbawa felt truly special this year for the academic community of the Olat Maras Community Academy (AKOM). Carrying the spirit of togetherness and discipline that breathes life into vocational education, our campus took part in enlivening the regency-level marching competition held today, Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The enthusiasm of the academic community was clearly visible despite the scorching sun as the participants’ ranks prepared at the starting line. Making a strong statement, AKOM deployed two resilient teams simultaneously, consisting of a men’s team and a women’s team. The presence of the academic community in the competition not only served as a showcase of physical capability, but also as a tangible manifestation of unity and esprit de corps consistently instilled within the campus environment.

The main highlight of this year’s participation was directed at the men’s team, which appeared full of prestige, led directly by the Director of AKOM, Fajar Rachmat, S.I.Kom. The leadership’s presence amidst the participants ignited the fighting spirit of all team members, proving that leadership at AKOM always emerges from the front line and blends with the academic community in every momentous occasion.

On the sidelines of the event, AKOM Director Fajar Rachmat, S.I.Kom, delivered a profound message regarding the essence of the institution’s participation in this independence celebration. “Marching is not merely stepping together on the highway, but a reflection of discipline, mental resilience, and solid teamwork—core values that we also apply in the vocational world. The spirit of independence must be ignited through concrete action, solidarity, and positive contribution to society,” he stated enthusiastically.

This successful participation in the 81st Indonesian Independence Day marching competition further strengthened the sense of family while reinforcing AKOM’s existence within the Sumbawa community.
