The Sumbawa Regency Government officially launched the Kartu Sumbawa Pintar (KSP) scholarship program to ensure local youth do not lose the opportunity to pursue higher education due to financial constraints. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the symbolic handover of the cards were carried out by the Regent of Sumbawa, Syarafuddin Jarot, alongside university leaders at the Sumbawa Regent’s Office on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Fajar Rachmat, Chief Executive Officer of the Olat Maras Community Academy (AKOM), directly signed the MoU with Sumbawa Regent Syarafuddin Jarot in the 3rd-floor hall of the Regent’s Office. In addition to AKOM, several other higher education institutions also received the same scholarship assistance from the Sumbawa Local Government, including STAIS, UTS, STIKES, Unsa, and Unram.
In this initial phase, 459 students from various universities were recorded as beneficiaries. The assistance was distributed to 101 AKOM students, 213 UTS students, 78 Samawa University students, 40 STAIS students, 15 Mataram University students, and 12 STIKES students.
The Regent emphasized that the launch of the KSP represents a concrete commitment by the local government to prioritize human resource development as its core mission in achieving the vision of a Superior, Advanced, and Prosperous Sumbawa. This policy is expected to serve as a systematic first step toward cultivating a high-quality generation in Sumbawa Regency.
The government also clarified that the KSP is not an ATM card or a financial transaction tool, but rather an official identity card for scholarship recipients. The card aims to streamline data collection, maintain program governance to be transparent and accountable, and ensure the assistance is delivered accurately to those in need.
Closing the event, the Regent advised students to use the assistance responsibly as a trust to study diligently. Beneficiaries are expected to boost their achievements, master science and technology while upholding Tau Samawa values, and eventually return to serve and build the region.
“To me, today is not merely about launching a card. What we are launching is an endeavor—a commitment from the local government so that Sumbawa’s youth do not lose the chance to receive higher education simply due to economic limitations,” he stated.
The presence of the card is expected to simplify data management, improve the scholarship program’s governance to make it more orderly, transparent, and accountable, and ensure that the aid reaches the right targets.
